2 Months!

2 Months
December 21, 2012

I seriously am amazed at how much you have changed in only two months time.  You are not that tiny newborn we brought home from the hospital anymore. You are looking more and more like, well, a BABY! A beautiful baby, you just get cuter and cuter each passing day and chunkier and chunkier! Even though, it makes mommy sad you’re growing out of your newborn body, it’s extremely exciting to see how your looks and personality develop.

At 7 weeks you started speaking baby babble. It litterly happened over night. We set you down, right after your bath, and all of a sudden you starting gaaaa-ing and ahhhh-ing. It’s the cutest high pitched noise I have ever heard. You are also getting better with your hand and arm movements. They are getting smoother and you are starting to try and hold your paci with your arm and fist.

We are still loving the cloth wipes and diapers! I’m really glad we made that decision, you haven't had a diaper rash since.  Plus you look so cute and comfortable in them.

You still love bath time. We bathe you a couple times a week and you just stare around the room and enjoy the warm water and mommy and daddy’s goofing singing.

You are sleeping better and better for mommy.  Some nights you will sleep 4-5 hours at a time and other nights 4-6 with a 2-4 hour period after that. You never really know, but I’m loving it!

The day you turned 2 months you had a well baby visit and your very first shots! You did absolutely wonderful though. I think it was harder on mommy and daddy than on you.

We were getting worried because it sounded like you were getting a cough, but the Dr. didn't seem too concerned and you never had a runny nose or fever. (It passed after a couple days and all was well). You are 9lbs 8oz and 21 and a half inches long. Which, is in the 17-18th percentile. Dr. says you are growing perfectly! We decided to go ahead with the Rotavirus vaccine, which the Dr. said would either make you sleepy or fussy for a couple days. Since we were heading to Mount Vernon that afternoon for your first Christmas party we hoped for the sleepy side and we got our wish.  You slept the whole way there and through the entire Crawford Christmas party.  You would think we would be thrilled about that, but we really didn't like the fact that it made you feel funny and sleepy, but you didn’t have one bit of a fever and were your happy self so we really can’t complain.

You are over the whole swaddling thing.  You love being free and moving and kicking around.  You are definitely a little wiggle worm. It seems like you just can’t wait to start crawling and walking around. I think mommy is going to have her hands full!

goofball

This Christmas was truly wonderful. I love the holidays in general, but spending them as a family of 3 was something special. We had a blast at all of our Christmas gatherings and you my dear, were an amazing baby as always.

8 weeks you started using your hands a lot more. You now grab your hair and you have recently begun holding your left ear, usually when you are getting sleepy. At first I was worried you had an ear ache, but turns out it’s just another adorable little habit you have. I guess you the whole sleeping with your one arm up to your face turned into grabbing your ear once you found your hands. ;) Makes me wonder if you will always do it, it’s too cute.

You are not a fan of tummy time, but we still work on it. I think you are just too nosy for tummy time and want to see and know what’s going on. You’re not interested in what the ground looks like, but hopefully you will get the hang of it soon and you can use those neck muscles to look around!

You’re starting to really take everything in now. You track people and sounds around the room and you always want to be able to see what’s going on. I love seeing your perssonality develop and can’t wait to see what this next month, I mean NEW YEAR will bring! (like sleeping in your own room! : O Gasp!)

Love you Pnut,
Mommy

Mommywise

December 6, 2012

6 weeks and 4 days old!

Lola Rae slept for 6 consecutive hours last night!! For a newborn, most would call that “sleeping through the night.” Good job baby girl!  This is celebration time, considering mommy hasn’t slept more than 4 hours for almost 2 months now.  Daddy even woke up with me at 4:00 am while I fed and changed her…then we couldn’t go back to sleep, so what do we do? Well, go to Cracker Barrel for breakfast of course!! We had planned on it anyway, so that’s why we really decided to stay up, but little miss slept the entire trip! What an awesome baby I have. ; )

Love you little sleepy head!

Good Morning!

6 Weeks

6 Weeks
December 2, 2012

My beautiful girl

You are my sunshine.  Six weeks old already and what can you do now besides get any stinking cuter?!  Well… you seem to be a lot easier to hold these days. Your neck is definitely getting stronger. When people come over to visit they say that they don’t feel like they are going to break you anymore.

You are also getting better with your hands. You grab on to things a lot more. You like to grab on mommy’s hair and shirt, especially when you are nursing. You also attempt to suck on your fist. Sometimes it looks like you can’t decide if you like the taste of them or not. haha I’m hoping not, and just maybe you will decide that sucking your thumb is for babies, and if you are a thumb sucker, I’m afraid I will think that it’s terribly cute. You, can now produce saliva! Woohoo! but not a lot, yet anyway.

You love to stare at your daddy.  It seems that you are very interested in what he has to say already.  Me on the other hand, I think you are getting sick of looking at my face. You like to furrow your eyebrows at me, but I think thats what you do when you are really concentrating on something. It’s cute. You love to stare at the trees, birds and even your books on your nursery walls. I think mommy did a pretty good job at picking them out and Nana did an amazing job and creating it for me. You are starting to notice all sorts of things, especially with a lot of contrast. Of course you love our Christmas tree lights, but out of everything you still LOVE the lamp in the living room the most! You just LOVE bright lights.

You started to laugh in your sleep. That is mommy’s absolute favorite. What are you laughing at, I wonder? I can’t wait till you really laugh, I can just imagine the sound of your sweet little giggle and it makes my heart melt already.

We have been taking you out more. You had your first trip to the mall and a couple more trips to Cracker Barrel and 54th street.  Each time you slept and were an absolute angel for mommy and daddy.

You still like to sleep with one fist agains your cheek when you are in my arms, so sweet. Your starting to get more on schedule when it comes to sleeping at night. You usually fall asleep around 9 or 10 wake up around 2 for a feeding and again around 5 am for another feeding. I can’t complain about that!

Oh yeah, you fit into your cloth diapers and moby now! Woohoo!! Such a big, lil Pnut.

Mommy

One Month Dr. Visit

November 23,2012

Finally! Your one month Dr. visit! We couldn't wait to see how much weight you have gained. Grandma and Grandpa made bets, Grandpa won with a guess of 8 pounds. We definitely could tell that you were getting chunkier, your little thighs finally started to fill out and get little fat rolls and your chin got a little chubbier.  It really does make mommy so giddy, I just want you to be healthy and happy and it seems to me that you are anyway. ; )

So the results are in, you now weigh 7 pounds and 14 ounces! and you are now 20 and a half inches long! You can almost fit into your moby! (which daddy is not excited about because he doesn’t “trust” it…oh boy.  Anywho, the Dr. visit went great. All of your test that they took at the hospital turned out normal, so that made us happy. The nurses at the Dr.s office just gushed over you and how pretty you are and how much pretty hair you have. Your daddy and I had the biggest, proudest smiles on our faces the entire visit.  Now, I’m one of those parents, I can’t help it!  When the Dr. tells you everything looks perfect, it just makes you feel so good as a parent. There is honestly, no better feeling.

Mommy

One Month Old

One Month
November 21, 20012

My little Peanut is a month old! Holy cow, it seems like just yesterday that I was holding you in the hospital, no wait it seems like just yesterday that I was announcing I was pregnant with a little peanut in my belly!  You have really changed this week. You are already a lot more alert than the week before and getting stronger and stronger.  You’re not as fragile as you once were. ; )

Your vision is improving so much! You are starting to follow my face, side to side. You also notice your toys on your car seat and bouncer, you don’t look at them for too long, but you definitely can tell they are there! You have also recently become very attached to our lamp in the living room. If you are ever fussy, all we have to do is put in you front of the lamp and you go into a trans.  It’s hilarious. You also starting staring at the ceiling fan in the living room, that is before daddy took it out, oh well.

We had our first fussy night this week. I call it The night I gave into the paci.  You seemed to have the case of the toots and nothing seemed to sooth you until I stuck that paci in your mouth and you fell fast asleep. I didn't mind giving in to the "paci", because it had been a month and I had complete faith that you were well established on my breast. Plus if that makes my poor baby feel better then that’s what she gets. I really can’t complain, one long night after a month with a newborn, how lucky am I? You are such a sweetheart.

You are sleeping about 3-4 hours at a time, at night. Not too shabby. However, with days your “naps” can range from 1-5 hours and you never know when they will be or how long. Hopefully they will be more routine in the coming months.

You have also just discovered your hands. However, you are not too good with them just yet. You like to bonk yourself in the face and make a pouty face after the fact. It is, at the same time, sad & quite hilarious.

You still make all sorts of goofy faces. I LOVE them all! Especially your sleepy smiles ; D They just make my heart melt.

Poo Face!

You are starting to recognize mommy and daddy’s voices too. You turn your head towards us when we speak, it’s pretty cute.

Well, I think that’s it on the updates.

Your first Thanksgiving is tomorrow. Daddy and I are sooo excited, it’s one of our favorite days of the year. Also, your one month Dr. visit is this week, can’t wait to see how much you have grown!

Just don’t grow up too fast lil Pnut.

Love,
Mommy

Lola’s First Bath

Lola’s First Bath!!!
November, 4th

“I could get used to this bath thing"

 Frog belly!! haha love it!

Daddy was so gentle ;)

Just hangin out

 Lil Duck

Holdin mama’s finger

Daddy gave Lola her first bath and she loved it! Okay, well I don’t know if she loved it, but she hung out and was just chill the entire time. She looked completely relaxed, as if she was loving it anyway.  When he first dipped her in, she whined for a couple seconds, but that was it.  Mommy took pics and video taped. ; ) I would have to say, the first bath was a success!!! Good job Lola Rae!! My clean, sweet baby girl!!

Week 2 & 3

2 weeks already?

These first two weeks..what can I say really, except for the best two weeks of my life. I can’t believe you are already 2 weeks old.  Some days I feel like we just brought you home, and others I feel like you have been here forever. But it is true what everyone says, they grow so fast.

You still only fit into newborn clothing, they are actually starting to fit just right. I’m not sure what your weigh at this point, but I know you are gaining and filling out more and more each day.

You had your first bath at 2 weeks and we joke about you looking like a frog. You have these long skinny legs and your belly is starting to protrude out to the sides, it is seriously the cutest thing ever.  Your cheeks and chin are getting a little chunkier as well. ; )

Your hair is getting longer. A lot of people thought you would lose some, but it just keeps getting longer and fuller.  It’s so beautiful.  You now have eyebrows and eyelashes! I’m really hoping you have your daddy’s eyelashes and I think you just might!

Your vision is also improving each day. Instead of just being able to see to my face you are starting to notice lamps and other bright lights.

You are not sleeping as much, but still most of the day.  Instead of waking up every 3-4 hours at a time at night, it’s more like even 2-3, but mommy doesn’t mind ; )

You also started spitting up this week, which had me worried at first, but I know it’s totally normal. Our usual sleeping routine is, you wake up mommy first changes you, feeds you, burps you, changes you again and then rocks you to sleep which can take up to 30-90 minutes at a time, but usually last about an hour.

We got lucky and the weather turned out to be beautiful this weekend, so we got to take you on your first walk with Aunt Nicky and the Huffs! Since it was nice outside,  I had aunt Nicky take some family pictures of us! Plus, we had to get some taken before daddy got his braces put on. ;D

3 weeks!

What can I say, except for the fact that when I think you can’t get any cuter you do! I love watching you become more and more alert. Even though it makes me sad that you are growing and getting older (okay, I know you are only 3 weeks) it’s also pretty amazing to see you change and the new things you can do.  You have recently started falling asleep with your right hand on you cheek, when you are in my arms. It’s adorable.

You are staying awake for longer periods at a time during the day, which means I get to stare into your eyes more!

Your lips are getting fuller, I think they might be my favorite.. no your big bright eyes…no maybe your cute nose or your fuzzy head.. okay, everything about you is adorable.

I can’t wait to see how much weight you have gained next week at your one month Dr. visit. You sure a getting chubbier every day, it’s so precious, especially that little double chin of yours!

Bringing Home Baby

Bringing Home Baby

It was a rainy, October Tuesday when we brought you home.  We got discharged from the hospital around 10:00 A.M.  I waited in the wheel chair with you on my lap and with the nurse who wheeled me down to the lobby.  Daddy pulled around the car with great anticipation, he could not wait to bring you home.  Daddy drove as careful as can be the whole way home and I sat in the back and just stared at you, thinking about how I never want to forget this moment.  We pulled into the driveway of the house with the pretty pink bow on the mailbox.  This is it, we walked out of the house as a family of two and now we are walking in as a family of three. Your little sis, Lilly, greeted us at the door.  She really didn't know what to think of you.  We brought you into your new room and unbundled you. You have no idea how much you are loved at this point, but you will hopefully know one day. Daddy and I just looked at you and then looked at each other and balled like little babies….we have never been this happy…. How can you love a person this much?

I never want to forget how you feel in my arms right now, the faces you make, your newborn baby smell and the sweet mousy squeals that come from your mouth.  You really are the most beautiful thing I have ever laid my eyes on.

Your daddy kept saying, “I can’t believe she is really ours.” “I feel like somebody is going to take her away from us.” I have never seen him so happy. You can see the pride on his face when he holds you.  He is so over protective of you, which of course I find absolutely adorable.  He simply adores you and all I can say is you are one lucky girl.  I must add that he is a master swaddler and awesome at changing your diapers, mommy is a lucky lady also. ; )

You’re a tiny little thing. You only fit into newborn clothes and even some of those are big on you. Daddy had to run to the store and get you more newborn onsies. When I hold them up I can’t believe you fit into such a small little outfit. Everyone who sees you says you look a lot bigger in pictures than you do in person and it’s true you are a tiny, fragile, little doll baby.

Everyone says the first couple days are the hardest, but you really are an angel. You make it too easy for me. You have a certain face and make a certain noise to let mommy know when you are hungry. (Open mouth face and a little grunts). You sleep about 3-4  hrs at a time, at night and take A LOT of naps during the day. Everyone who visits wishes you were more awake. ; ) but, I know you are just a newborn and you need to sleep, and boy do I love watching you sleep, you’re dreaming of me I’m sure. ; )

First Night at Home

We know you have your daddy’s ears, hands and feet. I think you have my nose and daddy’s lips, but you never know just yet… Can’t wait to see what color your eyes will change to.

You have a pattern of different faces before you fall asleep. You go from a kissy face (which we call the “Lola face, you make it a lot), to a big smile, to a half smile, to furrowing your eyebrows and then to a pouty face, all in a matter of seconds. You already are a goof. Out of all of your faces, your "milk face", might be my favorite. The look on your face after you nurse is precious. You just look so happy and content and we can’t forget your poop faces, you have two of them and they are both too cute.

You are a strong little girl. From day one you were lifting your head when laying on my chest and flinging your head up, it amazes us, I must say. We tried tummy time the first week and you can lift and turn your head side to side. You can only stand about 5-10 minutes of it at time, unless you are asleep. You sleep on mommy’s chest a lot...and we have our skin to skin moments.  I’m not just saying this, but I’m pretty sure that’s your favorite spot to lay. ;D

You also get the hiccups a lot, and they just make me giddy because you got them a lot in my belly and they are the exact same pattern.  I do miss feeling them. Also, something I didn't know is that newborns  toot a lot, well at least you do, and very loudly, I must say. In fact sometimes I’m not sure if it’s you are daddy, who tooted. Sorry, if this embarrasses you one day. ;D

You are now 5 days old and it’s mommy’s golden birthday! Wow what a gift from God you are.  Your cord fell off today and you had your first doctors appointment.  You did wonderful.  You gained 4 ounces since you were brought home. You also had to get tested for jaundice, which you did not have.  The nurse had to draw blood and I couldn’t watch.  Daddy held me in his arms because hearing you cry like that made me so so sad. You had a follow up appointment a week later and gained 6 more ounces which brought you up to 6 pounds 3 ounces! That’s my girl! but don’t grow up too fast….

Oh ya and Happy Halloween!
