4 months

4 Months
February 21, 2013
(we had a decal incident)

Four months. As in a quarter of a year. As in 17 weeks. As in 123 days (I can't believe we used to tell people how many days old she was, and now we are in months). My baby girl is growing up.

(not sure how long she is going to fit in this basket lol)

Lola is getting so strong, and definitely has quite the personality. I think I’m going to have one animated kiddo. Her eyebrows usually do all the talking. She is growing like crazy. At the doctor's office she weighed in at 12pounds 10 ounces, and measured 23.75 inches long. She is still jumping up the growth charts. She was in somewhere like the 3rd percentile in weight and height when she was born and has jumped to the 25th. She is in the 25th percentile for weight, length and head. I can’t believe that 75% of babies her age are bigger than her, she looks like such a chunk, but I guess it’s those sweet cheeks of hers. I love them.

This week I had to put away the 0-3 clothing. My little peanut who was swimming in newborn clothing just a couple months ago, is fitting comfortably into most of her 3-6 month outfits. It won’t be long till I will be putting those away. I’m blaming it on the cloth diapers though and not that fact that my baby is growing up.

(my little ham)

Skill wise, this month Lola has done a lot. Even though she isn’t a fan of tummy time, she can now bare weight on her arms and hold her head up when she is on her belly.  She has gained much better control of her hands and arms. She has started to grab at her toys instead of bat at them. Everything she grabs seems to go straight into her mouth however. We still are not sure if she is teething or not. Jake can’t feel anything coming in, but she is starting to chew on her toys and paci. She is drooling more than usually, which isn’t really that much. I’m really not in any hurry for her to get teeth. =) She is starting to learn how to take her paci in and out of her mouth, this may save me time. Then again she can also take it out and drop it on the floor, so maybe not. ;/ She wants to talk SO BAD! She studies my mouth and mimics the motions. She loves when I say “ma ma” “da da” and “hi”.  I’m betting one of those will be her first words.

She still LOVES to play with her hair. She just sits and twirls and twirls it with her fingers, that’s one of my favorite little things she does. Plus it’s getting so long! Her bangs are already in her eyes, so I’m constantly pushing her hair to the side.  She loves trying to sit and stand, even though she isn't the greatest at it just yet.  You can tell she just wants to be on the move. Not yet, little one. She still hasn’t perfected the roll over yet, but getting very very close. She loves to roll on her side, but can’t decide if she wants to take the plunge. haha

She is still sleeping good. She usually goes down around 9 or 10 wakes up for a quick feeding after a 5-6 hours stretch. Then sleep for another 3-4 hours. Sometimes she will go right back to sleep for another 2-3 hours after that. I really can’t complain about that.

(you are too young to pout my dear)

She is still nursing great. She is still exclusively breast-fed. Dr. says she is gaining weight perfectly, so she doesn’t need anything, but mommy’s milk for now. We can start some solids in the next two months. I am excited, yet a little anxious about this.

Probably my most favorite thing that Lola started doing this month? Laughing. I have waited so long to hear a real laugh from my baby girl, and it is an amazing sound. A bit goofy, and very hard to get, but when I can squeeze a laugh out of her it makes my day.

Happy four months Lola Rae, mommy loves her happy, beautiful baby so so much!
