five months
My baby is almost 6 months old, which is almost half a year. Get out. Have I really been a mom that long already?! Time is flying and even though I love watching our daughter turn into this smart, beautiful baby, I look back at her newborn pictures and the tears start flowing. I know. Already?
What am I going to do on her first birthday?! Okay, I don’t want to think about it.
5 months old, you are so beautiful my dear. Each day you amaze me. This month we can check off rolling over, even though, you’re really not a rolling over fool. You like to roll to your side a lot, but still not a big fan of rolling onto your belly, now getting off of your belly, you like to do. You really do not enjoy being on your tummy. Oh, well, what are you going to do about it, we will keep working on it. Sitting you enjoy more than tummy time, but you won’t sit in my lap forever like you would last month. Now, you'll sit in my lap for a couple minutes then arch your back like “I want up mom!” If you’re in a standing position, or carried around you’re good to go, I know, Spoiled. Now, I know why they put those seat belts on swings and bouncers. If you’re not buckled you will squirm your way out of those things in a couple minutes. When I stand you up you get SO excited, which is why we got the jumparoo. You seem to love it even though we have to put a pillow underneath you because your legs are too short. You are really interactive with the toys around it though and it gives me a whole 30 minutes of free time. Oh, and laying on my chest, how come you will sleep forever on my chest, but when I lay you down for a nap, in your crib, I’ll get 20 minutes tops. I must say, I do love our naps together, but sometimes I need to clean, cook, BLOG!
Your voice, you sure like to make noise. You love to “talk” to us, I really wish I knew what you were trying to say. I like to practice the “ma ma’s” and “da ad’s” equally, just to see which one you will say first. They say ma ma is easier to say, but I think you’re going to be a daddy’s girl. So far, all you will say is “ahh ahh” in a high pitch and sometimes it sounds like you are saying “hi". Oh and speaking of high pitch, what is with the pterodactyl noises lately? The first time you did it daddy and I thought it was hilarious. Now, you like to show the public your new awesome sound. Uh Oh, sorry folks! You also like to communicate through coughing, I guess you learned that it gets my attention. Smart girl.
Sleeping, I’m not sure what happened this month my dear, but did you forget how to sleep? Actually you sleep just fine, it’s the getting up every 2 hours to eat. Hungry, hungry girl. I thought it was a growth spurt at first, until the third week. So daddy and I decided to try rice cereal once a day, before bed and bingo! Looks like you just needed something a little more hearty. I wasn’t ready for you to be ready for solids yet. ; ( We will try some veggies next month, I have a feeling you’ll love them.
Your dog. Even though your dog is not that interested in you, you sure are interested in her. You love to watch Lilly chase after her toys and you get so excited when she gets near, which is not very often. She knows her hair will end up in your hands and I don’t think she will make that mistake again.

Reaching and grabbing, you have perfected these things this month. Anything in your reach is no longer safe. If I'm holding something, you want it. And usually once you get it, it goes in the mouth.
If you’re lying on the ground and you want your paci, you’ll grab it and put it your mouth yourself. Whew. That is, if it’s in sight, that thing sure can bounce!
You love me, another thing you developed this month is neediness. You need me, and it’s sweet. I know I probably shouldn't love it so much, but I do. Now, when I will need someone to watch you, that might be a different story. When you get upset, you just want your mommy and it melts my heart. You will scream and scream and as soon as you hear my voice or you reach my arms, you stop, instantly. ; ) Oh and guess what, I need you just as much. We are together 24/7 and I LOVE it! I’m a little bit obsessed with you. I hope you don’t mind. I will say this though, your daddy sure can make you SMILE! You just light up when he enters the room. You might be mommy’s girl now, but I have a feeling down the road, you two are going to be best buds.
Happy 5 months sweetie, mommy love you!
